Crowns

The truth is, teeth that come badly decayed or damaged cannot heal on their own. To prevent further deterioration and restore the lifelike structure you need, Dr. Kane can help! Dr. Kane is able to design a custom-made restoration that blends seamlessly with your existing teeth with the help of our CEREC unit. Dental crowns are used to “cap” off a single tooth, as well as being used in cases of injury, severe cavities, aesthetic issues, and as the final touches for dental implants.

At Kane Family Dentistry, we are your local CEREC dental office for single-visit tooth restorations. Who wants to go to the dentist a second time if you don’t have to?

What is CEREC:

CEREC is a technology for restoring badly decayed or damaged teeth. This restoration can be completed in a single visit to the office. It makes your teeth stronger and beautiful, all while keeping your natural look! The restoration is metal-free and made from a high-grade ceramic material, which is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

The CEREC Process:

During your appointment, you and Dr. Kane will discuss the details of the procedure and he will answer any question you may have. A staff member will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a 3D imaging camera to take photos of your tooth/teeth. Using CEREC’s proprietary software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth’s appropriate form and function. Then, CEREC will fabricate your crown from a milling unit using diamond burs and a piece of ceramic. Lastly, the ceramic restoration will be bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.
